What is 'following'?This ramshackle Hoxton pub might not look like much from the outside but Charlie Wright's International Bar stages an excellent regular jazz programme on all nights except Saturdays. Expect to see US, African and Brazilian names alongside British players from the Jazz Warriors, Jazz Jamaica and the F-IRE Collective. Gigs at Charlie Wright's don't usually start until 10pm but continue into the early hours on Thursdays and Fridays. The impressively late license (4am Thur-Sat) helps add to the New York dive vibe and, unlike in other more serious jazz enclaves, dancing is permitted. Among the international heavyweights who have electrified the small stage are Victor Bailey, Dave Binney, Damion Reid and Kurt Rosenwinkel.
Hard-grooving, horn-led, Meters-style funk from this band; drawing on the funkiest sounds to come out of New Orleans....

Inerior looks a bit 70ies but the music and athmosphere is great.
I have spent 5 minutes in this bar because the group that was supposed to play tonight ("Big Mama's Door") somehow was not playing. I would not be this much annoyed if I had not checked the program just before I left home but I did and the band was on! Now I'm looking at their web site and it claims that "Big Mama's Door" is playing tomorrow night. So they change the program just like that, no explanations no apologies. Besides why should I believe that it's actually on tomorrow night? Plus, the place looked so shitty I wouldn't be back even if Michael Jackson rised up from his grave and performed (a)live here.
