93 Feet East review

With three rooms, a balcony and a wrap-around courtyard that's made for summer barbecues, 93 Feet East manages to overcome what could have been a crippling lack of a proper late licence. Its listings are eclectic, ranging from independent showcases curated by edgy promoters to multidisciplinary arty festivals and electro/guitar club nights. What 93 does best, however, is provide a stage for indie bands on their way up: Vincent Vincent and the Villains, Wild Beasts, Black Kids and Friendly Fires have all reached the appropriate punters at this intimate East End venue. It can all get a little student uniony at times: experimental, mop-haired youngsters toying with artistic freedom, but, on the whole, this is an East End venue with a real sense of spirit.
