Notting Hill Arts Club review

Cool west London folk are grateful for this small, basement club. It isn't much to look at, but Notting Hill Arts Club almost single-handedly keeps this side of town on the radar thanks to nights like Thursday's YoYo - for fans of funk to '80s boogie. A cross between a basement arts centre and cool cocktail haunt, Notting Hill Arts Club is a destination venue pulling in a cross-London crowd of arty types and cool kids. Lily Allen famously launched her music career here and the likes of La Roux have cemented their reputations with residencies. Other nights to check include Creation Records founder (and discoverer of Oasis) Alan McGee's Death Disco, the capital's wildest arts 'n' crafts session Craft Night, while legendary record label Rough Trade step up on Saturday afternoon with their free Rota Sessions, hosting live bands and spinning post rock, electronic, alt-folk, fuzzy rock 'n' roll and indie pop.
