Fashion and Textile Museum

Following a two-year closure, the Fashion and Textile Museum reopened in 2008 and is now operated by Newham College, enabling it to offer courses and professional development for fashion students and companies. In addition to the archive (which can be visited by appointment), and temporary exhibitions (on subjects from English dandies to avant-garde Swedish fashion designers) which carry an admission charge, there is now also a small permanent display featuring the designs of founder Zandra Rhodes, and a café and shop which are free to visit. The compact Fashion and Textile Museum shop is a good place to shop for interesting and unusual accessories and jewellery by up-and-coming designers.
