Local artist Miriam Wosk gets her first retrospective, Abundance and Devotion, in SMMoA's main gallery. Curated by Elsa Longhauser, the exhibition highlights the artist's life and career through large-scale, intricate paintings and collages, as well as Wosk's early illustrations. Language of the Soul, a short film about Wosk's life by Terry Sanders, will show with the artist's original scrapbooks. Throughout a career that spanned nearly four decades, Wosk explored the themes of nature, human consciousness, aesthetics and spiritual transcendence in the mediums of painting and collage with recurring motifs of the female body and condition. The opening reception on January 18 is open to the public from 7pm to 9pm.
