James Turrell is having a major LA moment, between his largescale exhibition raging at LACMA and this new showcase of his work on Arizona's Roden Crater, a natural volcano he has been transforming since 1972 into a work of art comparable to Stonehenge. Browse drawings, photographs, models, architectural plans and more from the artist, then take a turn in the special Meditation Room from his Perceptual Cells series, where two people lie in a spherical room and are immersed in sequences of phased and strobed light for 15 minutes. Sooner Than Later marks the first exhibition in Kayne Griffin Corcoran's brand new gallery space on La Brea, which fittingly features Turrell-designed lighting.
