Bringing Afghan craftsmanship to the Hammer Museum, LA contemporary artists showcase six elaborate carpet designs handmade by weavers in Afghanistan. Inspired by a voyage to Kabul and Bamiyan, local artists Lisa Anne Auerbach, Liz Craft, Meg Cranston, Francesca Gabbiani, Jennifer Guidi, and Toba Khedoori reached out to non-profit AfganMade and carpet producer Christopher Farr, Inc. to turn sketches into a masterpiece. It’s an exhibition worth checking out. Walk away with a new carpet and all proceeds will go towards Arzu Studio Hope benefitting new weaving studios with fair wages, education, and healthcare for Afghan women.
