Hollywood Reservoir & Dog Park review

Formed in 1924 when the Mulholland Dam was built, the Hollywood Reservoir was a landmark piece of engineering. Holding 2.5 billion US gallons, it provided the drinking water to facilitate the city's spread, piped in from 300 miles away through the Owens River Aqueduct system.

Now most of its water storage is underground, but the pretty lake attracts runners, walkers and the occasional cyclist to its waterside trails, which offer a fantastic view of the Hollywood sign. Tucked behind the reservoir up Beachwood Canyon is the Hollywood Dog Park.
