Friday

Start off the long weekend with another installment of the summertime tradition Jazz at LACMA. Take a seat in the museum's beloved entrance plaza for a free performance from vocalist Janis Mann.

While you're there, make sure to check out the recently opened Royal Hawaiian Featherwork: Nā Hulu Ali‘i. This LACMA exhibition of painstakingly constructed cloaks, capes, helmets and leis includes a collection of made-for-royals garments rarely seen outside of Hawaii.

Make your way to NerdMelt for Guy Branum Presents Talk Show: The Game Show. The pop culture inclined stand-up hosts this faux talk show, where guests (including Rachel Bloom and Jesse Thorn) compete by "plugging, name-dropping, and anecdoteing" their way to victory.

Saturday

Mingle amongst LA's hippest makers while shopping at the first installment of Artists & Fleas Venice. The Westside expansion of the Arts District market is bringing jewelry, books, snacks, vintage-inspired threads and more to Abbot Kinney every Saturday.

Head on down to Machine Project's Mystery Theater for Daytime, an afternoon of absurd talk show-inspired revelations. Johnnie JungleGuts welcomes guests like a woman who has learned how to predict the future using Taco Bell sauce packets and a boy who's deathly afraid of vegetables—no word yet if there'll be any shocking paternity tests.

Head down the street as the Cinefamily presents this off-site screening of Pippi in the South Seas at the Bob Baker Marionette Theater. DJ Lance Rock of Yo Gabba Gabba! hosts this plucky 1970 version of Pippi Longstocking, with a special marionette opening act.

Roll out a blanket for a jam-packed evening of outdoor movie screenings. Here's a quick look at tonight's schedule: Cinespia is screening Singin' in the Rain, Eat|See|Hear is showing The Big Lebowski and Street Food Cinema is hosting two totally '90s screenings with Hook and Space Jam.

Sunday

Eat your way around Santa Monica's Main Street on Sunday afternoon during its annual MAINopoly feast. The event transforms the neighborhood into a giant culinary take on Monopoly: attendees are allotted special "MAINopoly dollars" to exchange for food tastings up and down the street.

Take a plunge into the pool at SkyBar for the summer's first installment of Rhondesia. This pool party from the founders of A Club Called Rhonda couples that party's anything goes atmosphere with "big heat, thick beats and the softest sheets."

Nothing says "USA" like wholesome American boobs. At least, that's our interpretation of Sunday night's edition of Sultry Sweet Burlesque, dubbed "Red White & Boobs: A Memorial Day Tribute to the Troops." Expect the same mix of tapas and toplessness at the El Cid dinner show, just with a bit more 'Murica thrown into the mix.

If you prefer your Memorial Day salute a little more traditional, bring your best gal or guy to the Clifton's Canteen, a tribute to 1940s USO shows. Don your most dapper duds while dancing and drinking to the sounds of a live big band at Clifton's Cafeteria.

Monday

If you're not braving the beaches or embarking on a road trip on Memorial Day, make your way to Topanga Canyon for the annual Topanga Days Country Fair. Bohemian locals and curious onlookers converge to celebrate music, food, arts and Mother Earth; Monday morning's festivities include a parade along Topanga Canyon Boulevard.

Farther down the coast, Hermosa Beach hosts its biannual Fiesta Hermosa. Strip down to your bathing suit and roam the 400-plus stalls at this waterfront street fair.

Chill out with an afternoon of jam bands and reggae acts at UCLA's annual JazzReggae Fest. This student-run Memorial Day tradition has returned to its roots this year with a much more reggae-heavy lineup, including Barrington Levy, Jesse Royal and Bambaata Marley.
