LA's equivalent of the Cinémathèque Française responds to Truffaut's puzzled inquiry - 'Is the cinema more important than life?' - with a whole-hearted 'yes'. After a spell in the doledrums, this lovely venue is now curated by the Cinefamily organisation of enthusiasts and no longer limits itself to silent flicks: you'll now find everything from kitschy B-movies to punch-proud masterpieces.
