A former cop bar that found a new lease of life after it was bought by Afghan Whigs frontman Greg Dulli, the Short Stop helped kickstart the still-ongoing Echo Park renaissance several years ago. The formula is familiar, but the blend of scruffy decor, clued-in music and unfussy, fairly priced drinks still attracts über-fashionable customers. The DJs are alternately lauded and lambasted by locals, but the dancefloor is nearly always full.
