New York-born rock venue Crash Mansion recently established an LA outpost that doubles as a dance emporium. The multi-room complex has space for 1,200 and runs an inclusive 18-and-up door policy (over-21s can split off for the bar). The DJ booking policy has been off-the-beaten path, with the unexpected likes of Tommy Lee performing dance music sets for a Vegas-esque crowd. One of the reasons Downtown's nightlife renaissance has more edge than Hollywood's own after-dark revival.
