Written and directed by Andy Warhol, Imitation of Christ is as unconventional as you’d expect from the pop art legend. The film centers on beautiful misfit Son, who passes time in his room as the family maid feeds him corn flakes and reads to him from 15th century spiritual guide De Imitatione Christi. Meanwhile his parents lay in bed shooting amphetamine, arguing about their son’s problems and admitting their physical attraction to him. So far, so Warhol. The film can’t be found anywhere near Youtube, so don’t miss this rare opportunity to marvel at the eccentricity for free at the Hammer.
