This quirky documentary delves into the underground world of true indie filmmaking. Subject Giuseppe Andrews, a former actor in Independence Day and Detroit Rock City, now serves as a DIY director, having made more than 30 experimental features, with casts consisting of drug addicts, senior citizens and even trailer park residents dressed as cows. Giuseppe brings his unique sensibilities to fruition in Ventura, CA, and here we see him attempt the seemingly impossible: filming his latest work, Garbanzo Gas, with just $1,000 and two days to complete the movie. The documentary will play for a week at the Nuart, and director Adam Rifkin will be at the theater in person for the 7:30pm and 9:40pm screenings on Friday and Saturday.
