Time Out says

The 1979 Rock 'n' Roll High School is a precious punk document—it's like Hard Day's Night for the Ramones, as the band appears to lead teenager Riff Randell to anarchy against a music-hating principal. It's an awesomely over-the-top ode to personal freedom that culminates in blowing up a high school. See the cult musical comedy for free at an outdoor screening at Montebello City Park (199 S Taylor Ave), in conjunction with LACMA's off-site Art + Film Lab.
