Hotelier Gregory Peck (no relation) and designer du jour Dodd Mitchell reworked this handsome 1926 building into a boutique hotel in 2003. Its best feature is Boé: it's a mellow spot during the day (the Beverly Hills power-lunchers prefer other spots in the neighbourhood), but it thrives at night, drinkers spilling out on to the deck as they join the scene with a cocktail or a glass of white in hand. The rooms aren't huge - indeed, some are tiny - but they are comfortable.
