This understatedly named hotel is pretty much the poster child for the ongoing regeneration of LA's Downtown. Until a few years ago, this was a downmarket residential hotel housing low-income tenants. However, it was transformed during 2007 into a sleek boutique hotel, a slicker and less rowdy competitor of sorts to the established Standard up the road. The lobby area opens out into a stylish lounge and split-level restaurant; a six-room spa is due to open in late 2008. Upstairs, the rooms are pretty small, but they are crisp and comfortable.
