Though only true connoisseurs will reckon it worth the drive down in itself, the Long Beach Museum of Art nonetheless keeps its locals entertained with a cultured roster of temporary exhibits. The extensive video library is now in the hands of the Getty, but the museum's permanent collection still includes some notable Californian pieces. The building's an intriguing one: completed in 1912, it was designed and originally used as a summer home by philanthropist Elizabeth Milbank Anderson.
