Opened in 2008 by Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo, better known as the Two Dudes Catering on the Food Network, Animal offers a crazy-adventurous menu that adds unexpected twists to the cooking of the American South: Johnnycakes with foie gras, for instance. The room is bare and often loud. The food, though, is fantastic.
