Ray's offers fine dining from the Patina Group in a museum setting at LACMA. The restaurant's decor is a continuation on the art theme with floor-to-ceiling glass walls that overlook the outdoor sculptures and Eames and Eero Saarinen–designed furniture. The food comes from executive chef Fernando Darin, and starts with some of the best bread around—house made and wood-baked, it's at once chewy and crusty—then continues with handmade pastas and grilled meats, and ends with elegantly-composed desserts. Sommelier Paul Sanguinetti curates a thorough wine list and creative cocktails, also served at the adjacent Stark Bar. The patio fills up with lunch time museum-goers, while dinner sees a quieter crowd. Don't miss Monday night's dinner tasting menu where each course is a $10 steal.
