Here’s another version of Romeo & Juliet to fit into your schedule of plays to watch this summer. The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles brings us the Capulets and Montagues reimagined as competing newspaper editors of the early 1900s, William Randolph Hearst and Harry Chandler. Take a step into 1920s LA, with its journalistic rivalries and power battles, at the Japanese Garden and watch as “A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life.” The cast includes Rissoli & Isles' Jack Mikesell as Romeo and Christina Elmore (Fruitvale Station, The Last Ship) as Juliet. If you’re willing to splurge a bit, the $70 ticket comes with a box dinner to enjoy during the show.
