|Syllabus||If you’ve got pasta making down pat, take a trip East with Japan’s lesser hyped (ramen fatigue, anyone?) soba. Roll up your sleeves to create these buckwheat noodles by hand using traditional techniques and tools.||How to roast coffee beans at home? Why, in a Whirly Pop. The old-fashioned popcorn maker is what home coffee nerds use to hand roast beans from green to dark. There's also a coffee cupping—sniff and slurp various brews—and tips to properly grind and brew the perfect cup of joe.||Get schooled in all things brown and barrel-aged. From Scotch and rye to Japan and the Pacific Northwest, sample rare whiskeys from around the world. The monthly tasting is led by “spirit guide” Pedro Shanahan and different master distillers at Downtown’s man cave a.k.a. Seven Grand, which carries 400+ bottles of whiskeys.|
|Snack time||You’ll be a bona fide soba master (and bona fide stuffed) after a sit-down tasting of cold and hot soba. There’s also homemade Japanese dessert to round out the meal and recipes and goodies—don’t forget your own Tupperware to bag your noodles—to take home.||The two-hour class finishes with a spread of goat cheeses (made on-site from the property's goats), freshly-baked biscotti and cookies and, of course, coffee served black or with goat's milk.||Who needs food when you’ve got whiskey? Pre or post tasting, browse the 4000+ whisky selection or break (liquid) bread with your fellow spirit nerds with a good ol’ ‘Merican High Life or local, craft IPA. If you must break your liquid diet, Mas Malo—cheeseburger tacos, anyone?—downstairs is open until 11pm.|
