The Derby chain (see also the Hotel Villa Real, below) is owned by Catalan archaeologist Jordi Clos, and ancient figurines and artworks are found throughout the rooms, common areas and in the Egyptian museum in the basement. This cultural treasure trove is a perfect counterpoint to the painfully hip surroundings - a glass and steel atrium, rooms sexily designed with teak and leather and what must be the coolest doormen in the city. Other pluses include extremely friendly staff and a much needed plunge pool on the roof.
