Samarkanda is right in the tropical garden in Atocha Station, and it fits in with its environment, in a building that's something of British colonial style under the spectacular modernist roof of the station. Samarkanda is a city on the Asian Silk Route, and the restaurant that bears its name in madrid sets out to be an exotic space, decorated with dark wood, where the best of the menu include vegetables, meats and delicious fresh fish. Chef Jesús Barbolla has made this a top restaurant for 'callos a la madrileña' (beef tripe stew with sausage). An oasis in the centre of Madrid where you can relax and enjoy the cosmopolitan surroundings, it's also quite near to Madrid's top museums.
