Previously known for its homespun comic theatre (plenty of star names in farcical situations and lots of banging of doors), this comfortable venue has undergone a slight shift of image in recent years. Although it still hosts some comedy acts each season, the programme now mainly consists of quality drama, most of it 20th century.
