Mothballed for some 20 years, this former haunt of hacks from the nearby Daily Express building has made a welcome return. Legend has it that it was originally intended as a law court, hence the intricate ceilings and mullioned windows, but the coloured plaster walls of its refit don't really do the place justice. There's more taste in the range of beers on offer, which includes ales from the local Boggart Hole Clough brewery.
