This unassuming bar is the City Centre home of Manchester's best-known microbrewery, Marble Beers. Unlike the beautiful surrounds of the Marble Arch Inn), 57 Thomas Street is sparsely decorated, with just one long table stretching the length of the bar, for starters. The strength of the place can be seen in its mantra of 'Beer & Food', which is exactly what it does - and does well. Hand-pumped real ale, imported beers and a mighty impressive cheeseboard offer a strangely satisfying no-frills ale experience.

One of the best - and smallest - pubs in the city. Great beer, cracking food, casual, relaxed, communal atmosphere centred on one table, with a selection of games (chess/draughts) available for all. Did I mention the beer? It's GREAT.
