UK premieres, classic horror screenings and documentaries have all been confirmed for this year’s Grimmfest.

The horror and cult film festival, which takes place at the Printworks Odeon for 2015, is now in its seventh year and the four-day event will feature 34 films. It will be the first North West screening for every film on the programme, with many also making their UK and European debut.

Grimmfest will open with rural shocker ‘The Hallow’, featuring special guests director Corin Hardy and star Joseph Mawle, the world premiere of SFX legend Shaune Harrison’s directorial debut ‘The Box’ and a screening of witty splatter satire ‘Blood Sucking Bastards’.

The programme also features the world premiere of ‘DXM’, a film combining theology, quantum physics, psychedelia, and martial arts action, which will be presented by director Andrew Goth, the first European showing of a tale of social media gone rogue, ‘Antisocial 2’, and documentary ‘The Nightmare’ which is a terrifying look at sleep paralysis, a condition in which the dreamer is locked within his or her own nightmare world and is unable to wake up.

Most of the schedule is made up of new films, but there will also be showcasing ‘Hellraiser’ in celebration of a new, remastered release from Arrow and a charity screening of ‘Scream’ as a tribute to Wes Craven.

But it’s not all just screenings. Gaming events company Bitlord will also be involved and hosting a selection of video games from the 80s up until the present day including a VR set up, multiplayer and new games from local developers, and there will also be a festival hub featuring stalls, signings and activities.

Grimmfest 2015, October 1-4, Odeon Printworks. Tickets on sale now.
