Temporary duck lanes have appeared on canal paths around the city, as well as in Birmingham and London.

Why? Because The Canal and Rivers Trust have put them in place as a reminder that canals pathways aren't only for people as part of their ‘share the space, drop your pace’ campaign.

The trust are also warning against feeding the birds bread, suggesting that it's actually food like oats, corn and even defrosted frozen peas which are good for the animals, unlike soggy bread which can swell inside their stomachs.

The Canal and Rivers Trust looks after a lot of pathways along the 2000 miles of canal that they oversee, so the campaign aims to make people more aware that, whether you're a cyclist, on foot or jogging on your lunch break, there's a lot of wildlife about that needs to share the space with you.

You can read more about the campaign on the Canal and Rivers Trust website.

Have you seen any of the canal paths for ducks?
