South reopened in 2010, redesigned by Ben Kelly of Haçienda and FAC251 fame. The old space has been modernised - the new additions include a bespoke Funktion One sound system - without compromising the well-loved underground 'dive' feel. Clint Boon of Inspiral Carpets plays indie and rock 'n' roll tracks to a discerning crowd on Saturdays. Wednesday's Colorkode house and techno, and Thursday's Murkage nights - a mix of dubstep electro and hip hop - break an otherwise uninterrupted indie schedule.
