Easter clubbing in Manchester

How, when and where to celebrate Easter in clubland, plus a chance to win free tickets to the Warehouse Project: Lost Weekends. Here‘s our pick of the best dancing and debauchery around

The Warehouse Project: Lost Weekend Part 1
Where would the Manchester music scene be without The Warehouse Project and their sub-Piccadilly shenanigans? As if being named Mixmag’s Club of the Year wasn’t enough, they’ve announced they will be serving up a series of Lost Weekend parties throughout the year, kicking off over the Easter weekend. Thursday March 20 sees the regular Ape night going all Easter Special on us with Coldcut and Peanut Butter Wolf live, DJ Hype and Goldie. Then we can look forward to a seriously Good Friday thanks to some overseas visitors in the shape of Ed Banger, with Kitsune and Modular joining forces. Saturday belongs to the Swedish house mafia with Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso. Easter Sunday shuts down with a good old-fashioned Hacienda rave-up. Featuring the likes of 808 State, Mike Pickering, Peter Hook, A Guy Called Gerald and a live PA from Mr Shaun Ryder, it promises to be the modern day equivalent of a load of pensioners sitting round singing Doris Day songs, but, you know, with a better soundsystem.
The Warehouse Project beneath Piccadilly Train Station, Store Street, Manchester, M1 2GH. (www.thewarehouseproject.com) Tickets cost £15 in advance for Thu, Fri and Sun and £20 for Sat.

Monster Monster Easter Special

After years of masked weirdness across the city’s clubs, Monster Monster sets up shop at the Paradise Factory for what they’re billing as their biggest night ever. Topping the line-up is Norwegian D&B from Future Prophecies with Aquasky, Ctrl-Z, a live set from The Broken Door and DJ Demon keeping things eclectic. Monster Monster seems to have cornered the market for people who like their club nights with a dash of costume, theatre and general oddness.
Monster Monster Easter Special Paradise Factory 112-116 Princess Street, M1 7EN (www.112-116princessstreet.co.uk/835 3500) March 21, 10pm-4am. Tickets £8 advance.

The Techno Experiment
This is one event that promises to be worthy of the hype. They’ve pulled out all the stops to celebrate the club’s first birthday party, lining-up a collision between the Techno Experiment and long-standing techno promoters Atomic Jam. In the main room Joey Beltram, Chris Finke, Mark EG, Ade Fenton and Mucky Beats plus a strong second room line-up with Zoid live and all the Pickled Beats DJs completes the experiment.
The Techno Experiment The Music Box, Oxford Road, Manchester, M1 6QF, March 22, 10pm-4am, £13 members and NUS £15 others. (www.myspace.com/thetechnoexperiment).

Goodgreef Easter Egg-Xstravaganza
Sankeys looks like it’s going to be extra busy over the Easter weekend. Not only have they got Tribal Gathering presenting a celebration of 20 years of Acid House on Thursday, they’re letting rave royalty Goodgreef take over on Good Friday. Featuring three rooms of different styles there should be something for everyone. In The Basement is Goodgreef Xtra Hard with Proteus and Dark By Design and a DJ set from Showtek. The Boutique is getting trancy with Aly & Fila and Matt Everson, while The Bar is all about house with Kris James and Paul Flintoff. It’s almost enough to make you forgive the fact that they’ve used an egg joke in the title.
Goodgreef Easter Egg-Xstravaganza Sankeys, Radium Street, Manchester, M4 6JG (0161 661 9668/www.goodgreef.net and www.sankeys.info). 10pm-5am. Tickets £14.
