Beck’s Fusions
Dpercussion may be dead but those lovely folk at Beck’s have come up with an outdoor alternative: Beck’s Fusions, an art and music three-dayer that takes place at Castlefield this September. It’s an inspired idea: using Castlefield’s fabulous industrial revolution architecture as the backdrop for a festival that brings together some of the biggest names in art and music. So, the collective United Visual Artists (UVA) work visual magic as Massive Attack do their stuff, while filmmakers Special Guest illustrate a set by disco revivalists Hercules and Love Affair. The weekend’s line-up is impressive, and features homegrown favourites the Elektrons alongside Santogold, DJ duo Tokyoblu and Sonny J. Best of all, entry is entirely free – although tickets for Friday and Saturday are allocated via a free prize draw on the Beck’s website.
Beck's Fusions, Castlefield Arena, 101 Liverpool Road, Castlefield, M3 4JN (www.becks.co.uk). Sept 4-6, free.
