Refuge Assurance Building

Oxford Street, City Centre

Designed by Alfred Waterhouse for the Refuge Assurance Company, this late 19th-century Grade-II listed building is a landmark in, with its distinctive red brickwork and 217ft clock tower. It was converted to a hotel in the mid 1990s and, after a £7million refurbishment in 2005, now houses the Palace Hotel.
