This ex-ballroom’s sprung dancefloor has been graced by generations of Mancunians. The Ritz’s nondescript, cheesy weekends are best avoided altogether; try, instead, the student sessions (Monday and Wednesday). Even better (and worth keeping an ear out for) are the occasional gigs from acts like Arctic Monkeys, Chemical Brothers or Elbow that temporarily realise the club’s true potential.
