With three galleries, arthouse cinemas, two specialist bookshops and two rather chi-chi café-bars, Cornerhouse is the original champion of independent visual arts and film in the city. Its three floors of odd-shaped gallery space sometimes break up the changing temporary exhibitions (there’s no permanent collection) a little awkwardly. Weekend nights feature DJs, while the film programme, with regular festivals, talks and indie selections, is arguably the best in town.
