Manchester Cathedral

Cathedral Yard

A church building of some description has existed on this site since the first millennium, and the present cathedral has adapted to structural damage inflicted variously during the Civil War, from a direct hit from German bombers in 1941 and by the IRA bomb of 1996. Of particular note is the beautiful wooden roof, the Anglo-Saxon Angel Stone (possibly a survival from an earlier church on the site) and the stained glass Fire Window, which evocatively bleeds flame-coloured light into the Regimental chapel.

I wish to express my support of your concerns that you brought into the Media this Saturday regarding the new violent wargame. I understand from your message it is proven that Sony makes money using a realistic background of your church where people virtually must be killed. Although I have no religious ties in England and very much support freedom of expression, I now very much do feel your concerns as it is so obvious that this is wrong. I hope that Sony understands your concerns and a dialogue with them can lead to a ban of the background of this game immediately because it is wrong to promote extreme violence in Churches. It is sad to see that it is in the man itself that they are attracted by evil violence like this. Posted on Jun 10 2007 00:15
