A pub of solid Victorian stock, and City Centre bastion for local brewers Holts, who still manage to produce an excellent bitter for around £1.50 a pint. There’s a large bar menu, separate dining room upstairs and quaint beer garden out back. Refurbished in mid 2006, the pub is a bit on the bright side, but it shouldn’t be long before that rich patina of a true pub returns.
