Over the years, the French has quietly got on with being’s premier French restaurant. Indeed, a fair few years ago, it was the recipient of not just’s but the country’s first Michelin star; although that honour has since been consigned to the history books, the food still shines. It may not be a buzz restaurant these days, but for authentic French cuisine (try the classic chateaubriand) in richly refined surroundings, there aren’t many better.
