Luso

63 Bridge Street

Arguably’s most universally popular new opening in 2006 was Jane and Carlos Cortes’ Luso, which has brought inventive and tasty Portuguese food into the City Centre. Eschewing solely Portuguese staples, Luso’s menu boldly ventures in the footsteps of Portuguese travellers. Consequently, vindaloo and tempura dishes feature. Despite this laudable experimentation, favourites like the house-salted salt cod still feature.

Independant restaurants are fanstastic...although not in this case. I'm not entirely sure if the person that greeted us was Jane but she was outrageously severe for front of house! The length of time to get served was ridiculous and the waiting staff were more insipied than the prawn curry my other hald had. I've never paid so much for poor service. The split level dining doesn't work and the interior is austere rather than minimal. If you fancy a cosy wholesome meal and a warm welcome try somewhere else. Posted on Dec 12 2007 13:46
