This slick shopping centre sprang from the ashes of the Corn Exchange (another casualty of that bomb), and while the old building’s unique character has now been obscured by gleaming white walls, chrome and glass stairs, the shops are impeccably chosen. Brands such as Calvin Klein, Karen Millen, Jigsaw (with adjoining café), Mikey jewellery and Body Shop rub shoulders with funky retailers such as the Japanese homeware store Muji, surf shop O’Neill, Bravissimo lingerie and Joy, the quirky clothing and gift label. On Saturdays, the Triangle resembles a futuristic space station, manned entirely by well-dressed local shoppers.
