Nestled in the foothills of the Pennines, Heaton Park is one of Europe’s largest municipal parks, at over 600 acres; it contains eight English Heritage listed buildings, a boating lake, an 18th- century hall, four championship- standard bowling greens (built for the Commonwealth Games), a golf course, a herd of highland cattle and a farm. The park is host to numerous concerts throughout the year, and a summer outdoor theatre.
