Manchester City Football Club/City of Manchester Stadium
Sportcity
The 48,000 capacity City of Stadium has housed the city’s less glamorous but more endearing second football club, City, since 2003. On site you’ll find a club shop, a restaurant, a museum, athletics track and squash courts. Stadium tours are available; call to book. The stadium successfully hosted the 2002 Commonwealth Games (it was originally designed as part of the failed bid for the 2000 Olympics) before being converted into a football stadium. On top of City home games, the stadium will be the venue for the UEFA Cup Final in 2008. Big-name rock concerts take place here over the summer.
