Staircase House
30-31 Market Place, Stockport
Located behind the tourist information office, and extensively restored following a major fire in 1995, Staircase House is a very modern presentation of the city’s architectural history told through the surviving layers of this impressive building. Dating back to the 15th century, and continuously occupied until shortly after World War II, its rooms are filled with replica period furnishings and artefacts, most of which can be handled.
