It doesn’t sell opium, but Fred Aldous does offer a huge basement packed with everything the social sketcher, dedicated designer and committed craftsperson could ever want. Aisles groan with pens, paints, glue, paper, glitter and all the little bits and pieces you need to make jewellery, cards and felt things to sell at the church fête. Staff are immensely helpful, and it’s easy to believe you’re a successful artist simply by sniffing the creative air.
