Elizabeth Gaskell's House - © Marketing Manchester
After years of neglect, initial restoration of the home of Elizabeth Gaskell is now complete. One of Manchester's most esteemed novelists, Gaskell wrote in the 'industrial' genre made famous by such literary visitors to the house as Charles Dickens.
With the Regency-style villa now saved from collapse - restoration was as much structural as to reveal original features - it now regularly opens to the public. Fundraising for further development continues.
