Stock's name and its imposing atmosphere survive from the building's previous incarnation as Manchester's stock exchange. Hard as the venue is to match, the menu nonetheless rivals it for stature. The pan-fried calf's liver with pancetta and crushed potatoes is particularly wonderful, and there are some excellent Italian wines from which to choose.
