For a quarter of a century, Cornerhouse has championed independent art and film in the city, with a cinema and festivals programme that is arguably the best in town. As a result, its slightly cramped galleries, arthouse cinemas, bookshop and chichi café-bars are regularly packed out, particularly in the evenings and at weekends - a situation that should be alleviated by its move, in 2014, to a purpose-built new home just up the road.
