Manchester DJ Mr Scruff has long been famous for his fondness for tea, setting up a tea bar at all of his Keep It Unreal club nights. It was a natural next step to launch his own café; Teacup stocks Scruff's own blends alongside a loose-leaf menu that is 13 varieties long. Hungry? Try eggs six ways, Pieminister pies, meatballs and handmade cakes galore with your tea, in this, one of the city's happiest cafés.

I think 'Angry Customer' must have come on a bad day; this is my favourite café in Manchester and the service has always been very good.

The poached eggs are delicious and I can thoroughly recommend the soup and sandwich, the spicy carrot and coriander was fantastic. I haven't tried the cakes but my friends have always enjoyed them and they look fresh.

In terms of tea I can recommend the jasmine or Earl Grey teas, however there is a very wide selection. The staff have always been on-hand to refill empty teapots which is a pleasant service.

The tea and food is lovely but the customer service is appalling! I spent 3 hours with a friend there and apart from taking our initial order, we were ignored the whole time. There were at least six waitstaff buzzing around, several of them made eye contact with us, even smiled at us, looked at our empty cups as they walked past our table, but no one bothered to take our cups away, ask if we wanted anything (we did, we'd been there long enough) and just ignored us.

When I went to the counter to ask for the bill I also asked why we had been ignored for so long and all the waitress had to say was "We're really busy." She didn't have anything to say when I told her that the staff had noticed and nothing was done.

Absolutely unforgivable behavior for the service industry, especially when there's a tip jar at the counter. Tips should be earned, not owed. There could have been some decent money spent and a big tip after three hours.
