When the Fifth realised its second-floor VIP rooms - complete with binoculars through which to view the hoi polloi down below - were turning off, well, the hoi polloi, it changed gear and wisely so. It's toned down the hoity toity vibe, and while it may not be a magnet for A-listers, the action downstairs is undeniable. A mix of urban professionals, rappers and curiosity seekers knock elbows to hip-hop hits, but be warned: the sonic boom might play havoc with your ears. On Fridays, the Fifth hosts the popular upscale urban party known as the 400 Club.
