Tony Goldman, the man largely responsible for the South Beach renaissance in the late 1980s, renovated this 1937 Henry Hohauser hotel by taking its old deco glory and infusing it with sleek, modern touches such as octagonal, etched-glass windows. Ceiling fans, tropical-print carpets, plump beds and period furnishings fill the 127 rooms. The rooftop sundeck provides patrons with an alternative to sand between the toes. The lobby bar is no longer as hip as it was, but it still attracts a decent crowd.
